A breakthrough RFID technology launch
It’s the biggest product launch in Nordic ID history. Breakthroughs in RFID technology development have led to a launch of four products in what Nordic ID is billing as ‘House of RFID’.
Salo, Finland, September 13, 2011 - It's the
biggest product launch in Nordic ID history. Breakthroughs in RFID
technology development have led to a launch of four products in
what Nordic ID is billing as 'House of RFID'. "The crux of
these products is the 500-milliwatt RFID engine," says Jorma Lalla,
CEO of Nordic ID. "Their power, speed and sleekness put these
devices in a class of their own."
On September 13th at 15:00 GMT, a short James
Bond-style movie, House of RFID, will present four new
devices to a worldwide audience, followed by a product-focused
webinar. The launch will be closely followed by a
roadshow across Europe and the Middle East.
Cell phone-sized device
finishes RFID inventory in minutes
The first of these devices, Nordic ID Morphic UHF RFID
Cross Dipole, represents the pinnacle of RFID reading
technology. It is unique in the marketplace because it
is no bigger than your average cell phone. Nonetheless it gives you
the capability to zip through store inventory in no time. It
is by far the smallest UHF RFID mass-reading Windows CE device on
the market, being heralded as a fast track to productivity and ROI
within the retail environment.
"The nice thing is that you can also use it as a VoIP cell
phone in the store environment," says Lalla. "Plus, Nordic ID
Morphic integrates beautifully with existing store systems because
it communicates via WLAN, Bluetooth, USB, and Ethernet." Thanks to
the foldaway cross dipole antenna, Nordic ID Morphic
UHF RFID Cross Dipole reads RFID tags quickly from up to two meters
away, from any angle. It comes with a powerful battery enabling up
to 9 hours of continuous RFID use.
The ultimate RFID
The Company's flagship mobile computer, the Nordic ID
Merlin UHF RFID Cross Dipole, is the fastest mobile computer on the
market. Nordic ID Merlin UHF RFID Cross Dipole now reads RFID tags
from any angle at seven to eight meters, for as many as 28 hours on
a single charge. Read hundreds of tags in a box or boxes on a
pallet with a single pass thanks to the innovative,
energy-efficient cross dipole antenna.
Setting up the Nordic ID Merlin UHF RFID Cross Dipole is
simple. The Windows™ CE interface is intuitive, immediately
enabling you to work with the new system. The illuminated colour
display can be controlled with a touch pen or your finger, and
ensures good readability under all lighting conditions.
Sleek, affordable USB
Nordic ID Sampo S1 is the sleekest USB reader for
interactive read/write RFID applications in the powerful
500-milliwatt class. An exceptional performance/price ratio makes
it more affordable than anything else on the market.
It is easy to use, easy to mount, and can be placed on top
of, under or to the side of a counter for instantaneous tag reading
of loose or boxed goods. "Nordic ID Sampo is especially suitable
for the apparel and fashion industry where throughput is huge,"
says Lalla. "And of course it's designed with multinationals in
mind, with multiregional frequency and DRM support." The reader has
many ease of use features like light and tapping sensors to
initiate reading processes, and an adjustable reading range of up
to four meters.
The most powerful embedded RFID reader on the market
At the heart of the RFID devices described above lies the Nordic
ID UHF RFID Reader NUR-05W. This powerful 500-milliwatt RFID engine
is available for integration in custom RFID equipment. It is
extremely compact and boasts low power consumption coupled with
great performance. Together, these make it an optimum choice for
both mobile and fixed readers.
